Children entering school for the first time bring with them a unique set of skills and behaviors based on personal characteristics and experiences. These early experiences help prepare the child for school. School readiness is impacted by multiple factors including family, community, early care & education (ECE) services, and schools. Missouri’s definition of school readiness addresses how each of these factors impact children entering school.
